    I defy anyone on this forum to list 25 things you can do in any Linux distro that you could never do in Windows.

    I can:

    * compile my own kernel
    * read the source code for almost any application
    * amend code to suit myself
    * access 1000s of free software packages
    * have access to a fully featured command shell which is also programmable
    * smile in 20 different ways and feel free.

    i don't think anyone has really read the windows eula in its entirety (at least i haven't), so here is a version of the windows xp eula in plain english:

    hope you like all the rights you are giving up when you agree to it.

    oh...and on open source platforms, you can do virtually anything, so asking us to name 25 things tells me you are very new to this (also judging by the number of your posts.... ).

    My first instinct when I see a new member post something like this is to lock the thread. This is blatant trolling. But given that I think the answers to the question will be more than able to stand I will leave this open. I ask that you guys don't fall into any bashing - let's just keep to the facts here.

    I suppose a Windows fanatic could get one... but that would just be strange.

    Unbiased view

    There are infinite number of things I can do on Linux that I cannot on Windows --someone or the other will get to them sooner or later so no point mentioning them.

    Here are some of the things I haven't been able to do on Linux but they run smoothly on Windows: (I am not blaming Linux here)

    1. Play games esp. AOE (plz. don't reply saying its MS, i acknowledge the fact and don't blame Linux for it), Quake (seems I need dedicated Graphics card if I need to run it on Linux, but Windows seems to run it good enough), etc...

    2. Connect an I-Pod and transfer music from my computer to the pod.

    It is important to know that both OS are meant to do completley different things and hence no point in comparing them. Essence of the post:- Dual boot your comp. its the best way. Let each OS do whats it best at and u enjoy.

    I somehow doubt the original poster is ever going to return and read this thread.
