    They didn't (unfortunately). They went from 7 to 9.

    Dapper Dan...that's a shame for your experiences. I have had nothing but luck with 9 beta (FF 1.5.0.7). I haven't used it much but it seems to be okay. When you run FF from the command line, do you get any revealing output?

    Here's what I get when I run from terminal when it crashes...
    Code:
    /usr/lib/firefox-1.5.0.7/run-mozilla.sh: line 131: 32680 Segmentation fault  "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
    Haven't had time to try to track it down yet though...

    EDIT: At least I've found where someone else has encountered the same error. I'll explore further...

    EDIT 2: SOLVED. Although I'm not sure why. Earlier, I had made a symlink from /usr/lib/firefox/firefox to /usr/bin/firefox. I deleted the symlink and remade it and everything seems to be working fine with no flash 9 crashes.

    During my troubles with flashplayer 9 and Firefox, I used Opera. Flash 9 works with some things but not with others, at least that was my experience.

    That's what I love about Linux. The most obscure and unexplainable things can solve your problems .
