- 11-07-2006 #23Well, perhaps I misinterpreted this, but I was referring to his recent interview on Forbes regarding the GPL3:

To me that tells me the license really doesn't mean much to Linus. He's more interested in working on code. I find I agree more with Linus' take on this whole debacle than that of RMS.Forbes: Are you participating in the GPLv3 process?
Linus: No, I'm not actively involved. And it's not so much because I couldn't be, it's more because I just can't find it in me to care too deeply. I'm the kind of person who hates office politics. I'm pretty happy with the GPLv2, and I just don't have the motivation or inclination to start talking to lawyers. I'm a programmer. I worry about kernel bugs.Registered Linux user #270181

Ok, I just read the review of gnewsense (why didn't they call it GNUbuntu I wonder?). Anyway, I think everyone is getting a little to excited about this. Read the description, it seems to be currently something not that useful (just like 10,000 other distros), They also seem to be creating some sort of builder that allows you do create your own distro (lfs meets ubuntu?). Lets give it a chance like every other distro. Remember choice is good *ducks*. However, I have speak up. Saying the FSF released it doesn't seemed to be true. According to the announcement two free software developers created it. They are using machines from the fsf to build it. This is not an offical FSF release. It is like saying gaim is a sourceforge release because they host it. There is NO proof that RMS had anything to do with it (I haven't checked, but I don't see any).
About RMS in general, can't we all just get along. I really dislike ESR, doesn't mean I spend hundreds of post *****ing about how all he has ever done is sendmail and write the Catherdal and the Bazaar and how he is hurting FOSS. He can do what ever he wants. He advocates for Open Source, RMS goes for Free Software. There is enough internet for everyone!Brilliant Mediocrity - Making Failure Look Good
- 11-07-2006 #25I don't think I said the FSF released this, only that they sanctioned it, and that the two developers who slapped it together were quoting a lot of FSF rhetoric. RMS is a part of the FSF, but I didn't mean to suggest he had a hand in gNewSense, only that the folks who did were fans of his.

Virgil I think that might be the best post I've seen here yet. I think even I needed to shut up there. Just venting
