This is bad news. Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

Sorry I noticed that there is a few articles about this but not the same one.
Screw Balmer, He says if we are going to pick linux to use Novell. I don't know about you but I would use Windows before I would use Novell. I have paid Novell too much money for a fat bloated distro that can't run any of my hardware and so much as Debian and ubuntu installed and ran my 3d card out of the box. Novell didn't even know it was a ati card. I have been dissappointed with the distro on many occasions. I am sorry for the people here that like it I know it is my opinion and am not forcing it on any of you. I just prefer other distros and I think that Balmer is full of dookie.
I am tired of Microsoft thinking they know what is best. I don't want them shoving their new linux distro down my throat.
Suse fans again I am sorry. I didn't mean to insult your distro. Like I said I have a lot better luck with the free (donation) software than the bloated overpriced distro.
I am just peeved about M$ getting their mits in everything.
Really? do they need an ipod competition?
I am serious if Microsoft starts to own Linux and direct the way they should go I am getting into knitting.
I will knit a penguin or something. Gosh! Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

Dookie! I've learned a new word.
No, they won't ever own Linux, but they might succeed in scaring a few people away from it in the server market.
No-one owns Linux really ... It exists because the Internet exists and because some people enjoy collaborative working and information sharing. I'm sure MS would love to own the Internet, your Granny and the oxygen we breathe (after all, oxygen is their intellectual property ... they thought of it!)
But they won't ... Not ever.
Errrr .... A thread on this subject has just been locked!!I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso

NOVELL SLES isnt for people who want to get their '3d' working, its an enterprise distro for enterprise server and workstation use.

Novel came out with a statement that stated that Balmer was incorrect in his assertion that Microsoft has IP being stolen by Linux. That Novel wished to make things better between Linux and Windows. That the agreement was in no way a acknowledgment of guilt in any way.

I use Centos (Red Hat) for my mission critical servers anyway.
I have a Fedora Core 4 server for fun. Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

Well, I'm glad at least RedHat refused a similar deal offer from Microsoft.

In my opinion that statement was too little, too late! There's many ways to admit guilt without actually admitting it, and Microsoft new this was going to happen. Novell was way too naive to actually believe Microsoft wasn't going to use this agreement as a way to decrease--or even prevent growth of--GNU/Linux's market share. Either way, Moglen already stated he's working on a provision to kind of nullify the agreement on the GPLv3. It pretty much states that if someone makes a no-sue agreement with 1 distributor, it applies to all distributors of the GPL licensed code in the agreement.

Guys this has been discussed at length in this thread. At this point we can't do much but speculate and that's not really beneficial to anyone.
