    Puppy Linux, general info needed!

Ok I'm currently downloading puppy Linux for my dad because he's got an old lap-top with a smallish HDD. The reason I'm specifically going for Puppy is because I heard it's small and fast. However I'd like to hear some more experienced users' input about this distribution if possible . I'm also thinking of putting the distro on my flash-drive and test it out a bit.

Also, which file-type does it use in general ? Anything specific such as .rpm or what? I'm not quite clued up on what it's based etc...In general I only want something that my dad will be able to use for e-mail, browsing and his CAD (electrical designing) which I want to make work via CrossOver. (I already managed doing this on PCLinuxOS) but it's slightly big for his little comp.

How does it compare to DSL etc...?

Here's some info re package types - http://www.puppyos.com/development/p...management.htm . Just installed to usb thumb drive and it managed to detect all my hardware including dlink wireless card with acx111 chipset. Up and online in minutes. Saves configurations too so when you reboot everything works. Installed partimage from a pupget package and even that was still installed after reboot. Excellent little distro - http://www.puppyos.com/
