I go for a walk ... it works quite well. Or I play around with my computer ... play the guitar a bit (I have an Ibanez Gio and a small Marshall practice amp ... It sounds raw).

As a last resort I'll go to my local pub and drink a few pints of beer. I like chatting to barmaids.

If you are a barmaid and you read this, my phone number is ....

::Edit:: This might sound really prissy, but I don't advise drinking if you're bored. You'll end up in a bar somewhere surrounding by bored drunks. Sad but true. The bar staff will also be bored.

If I'm bored at work I fire up a couple Linux games or browse the web. Sometimes I also go for a walk and talk to people.

At home, if I'm bored I go for a drive, watch a movie, play video games, or get slammed at the local bar.

    Pretty pathetic, I know!

It depends on the day of the week. On the weekend I'm usually with my girlfriend. During the week if I'm bored I usually play videogames, rant about a distribution, or draw a comic. Lately it's been more of number 1 and none of 2 and 3. I blame Zelda and Super Monkey Ball for that.

No-ooooo not pathetic at all. I forgot about watching a film or two. Love doing that.

Another good cure for boredom ... Sleeping!

I've had chats on IRC channels - and they really can be sad - like this:

    xSarah2006x: "I'm bored"
    Luke666: "So am I!"
    ErikTheDweeb: "Me too ..."
Emma: "Would anyone like to chat?"
    xSarah2006x: "I'm bored"
    * fingal sighs deeply
SuperCyberGuy: "I want to sacrifice a small goat? Are you into leather?"
Luke666: "You people are soooooo boring."
Emma: "I'm new here. Is anyone friendly?"

etc ... I usually counter by talking to the 'Emmas' of this world. Usually though, she catches the disease:

Emma: "I'm new here. You're all boring!"

Indeed. The one time I got on the #linuxforums IRC (yes, I did get on once) there was very little going on. Well, other than the fact that everyone was shocked I got on there... and then didn't believe I was really me. One person even made some Peter Pan reference I found amusing. Let me see if I can remember it:

"Holy crap! The Moe gets on IRC?"

The Moe... you know, like The Pan, minus the swashbuckling and fairy dust.

Yeah ... I've had similar experiences. I've been on #linuxforums IRC a few times and no-one knows who the heck I am (apart from onlinebacon) ... I had one really good chat about music from someone in the States. Apart from that it's like a club for people who won't speak, can't speak etc ...
