So whose gonna install suse 10.2 tomorrow?

I'm kinda psyched. I have installs of ubuntu and fc6 on either desktop or notebook, but after using opensuse 10 a while back, i have a kind of soft spot for it now. I felt Suse 10.0 was one of the easier installs i had had in while. Unlike fedora (4 or 5..) it took care of mounting ntfs drives for you from the get-go.

I'm curious too to see what they've been able to do, if anything in the month or so the latest main ubuntu and fedora releases came out. Easy xgl set-up? That might be a little too optimistic. But overall, i expect a lot from them.

Guess i will find out tomorow

Personally I'm never using a Novell product again, but it'll be interesting to see what it's got.

Actually, that sounds pretty reasonable to me. Some distro's going to do it eventually, why not them?

I might rant about it if someone is kind enough to procure me a DVD, but I'm not putting any special effort into getting it. I'm rather unhappy with the political alliances Novell has made recently. I certainly don't plan on ever buying a retail box of SuSE again.

I have the release candidate and I installed it on my laptop. I'm not sure if I want to upgrade this time which really isn't like me. I have just spent so much time getting things the way I want them. First thing I did to 10.1 was put Gnome back the way it should have been with the menu bar on top, and I really like the three menus so the new menu won't impress me.

Also there's the trouble of setting up lots of repositories, and the risk of not having packages available for a while. A real conundrum. I have 600GB of storage on my box so the last thing I want is a borked install.

I can do that for you Moe. I was planning on making a couple of copies for friends anyways. One more wouldn't hurt. PM me with your address and I can get one off to you ASAP.

Well, I'll be the odd man out here and say that I'm looking forward to the new Suse release. I tried the RC and it worked pretty well. In fact, I'm getting it now through a torrent. I like the professionalism and polish that goes into every one of their releases. Nothing has been as polished as 9.3 but 10.2 is looking to be very polished.

I know I have a very different opinion than everyone else here but I stand by my position. Novell is not going to screw us all over and I will proudly be a Suse user if 10.2 proves to work well for me. I won't get into this again because I very much disliked the debate last time (not much of a debate when everyone is critical of Novell).

    Here you go: http://ftp.kaist.ac.kr/pub/opensuse/...2/iso/torrent/

    I am getting between 100 kb/s and 200 kb/s down.
