    People are stupid.
Novell's attitude towards the GPL is one of the biggest dangers GNU/Linux has ever faced.

Just ignore it, SuSE is dead.

I use SuSE and I see no reason to change that for the forseeable future. And I am not stupid. That people disagree with you does not make them idiots. Why do you find it necessary to be insulting to get your point across?

The hits per day number on distrowatch would seem to contradict you. Unless perhaps you have a foolproof magic ball?

    Agreed.

Apologies if my comments were out of line.

I wonder if SuSE's recent popularity is due more to their discussions with MS, or with the release of 10.2? The hits/day seems to have started increasing before 10.2 was released, but perhaps this was in anticipation of the release, and not just due to the MS/Novell controversy.

that's my guess. i just installed it for the first time and it runs really well on my latitude D600. much improved over 10.1. runs faster and cleaner than ubuntu, xandros 4, or even freespire.

What differences did you notice over 10.1??

I have 10.1 at the moment, and I have been debating about whether or not an upgrade makes any sense.

the K-Menu has been totally redesigned and i think it's kinda cool though it will take a little to get used to. 10.1 i could never get updates working correctly on my rig. so i never really played with it much. so far everything works with 10.2. oh i did have to install the madwifi package, but that was easy. 10.1 kept freezing my system too. haven't even rebooted 10.2 yet. of course i have an extra hard drive for my laptop specifically for playing. once i verify that i can configure it how i want i'll go back to my real hard drive and install for real.

    Huh...?
With all due respect, the GPL is not a toy.
I dislike every one who thinks he can get cute with the GPL in Novell's way. They might not be idiots (in the short term), but I do dislike them by all means.

    Cool.
    I'll never advice it though.

    I liked that as well.

Liking what Novell is doing is completely different from liking SuSE. While I'm definitely not a fan of their MS deal, I'm impressed by how good of a job they've done with SuSE.
