I don't mean to get into a political discussion here, but I'm intrigued. So your gripe wasn't that they would parade around your town, you just didn't like that they'd be waving flags around and saluting them. Ok.

I suppose if they were Hitler Youth saluting a Nazi flag around town I'd have issues with it too.

lol slightly different context techiemoe , i used to be in boy scouts as wee laddy but they used to make us do church parade every month on a sunday and i hated it. thats not really what 12 year old lads want to be doing on a sunday when theres football to be played.
You know, aliens are going to come to earth in 50 years and kill the hell out of us for DDoSing their networks with this SETI crap

On a lighter note, scouting tends to change as people get older. I worked with a lad who was a venture scout, and basically scout camp was where he and his friends lost their virginity (collective term for virginity please? Virginities?!) and had their first alcoholic experiences.

Not the wholesome image you would expect ...

Lol! Yes ... It's all perfectly natural. Perfectly natural.

Pssst: this is where I grew up. If anyone fancies a visit, the place needs the money.
