They both seem to have their pros and cons, in my opinion. Either would work well enough for me if the other were to go under, but hopefully they'll both stay around for a very long time and keep improving.

Same can be said about GNOME. I don't find it particularly attractive and I don't like the simplicity thing that seems to have resulted in many features being removed from GNOME 2.x. Originally Posted by k0rfain

Enlightenment DR17 or Xfce 4 with compiz-fusion. Oh the pretty effects!
I hate Gnome. But I like GTK..
