    RISK - The Board Game

    Hey guys,

    Anyone here play this?

Myself and a few mates of mine dug out the board i purchased a year or so ago.. and it took us all of half an hour to start poking holes through the games rule set.

so i figured id ask for opinions from a bunch of logically minded people.

When playing mission risk, you have 4 tasks to complete, me, being the unlucky one as i am, got dealt the following 4 tasks:
    Conquer 4 territories
conquer 1 territory on 4 continents
    conquer 7 territories
and Conquer 1 territory on 5 continents

Seems easy enough, i personally attempted to do it all in one go, by conquering 7 territories, 5 of which were on different continents.

As the night went on, i started skimming over the rules a little more thoroughly, and discovered it says you can only play 1 mission card at a time, so claiming all four in this manor would not be possible, i would have to complete 1 mission each turn to be able to play that card, fair enough, it prevents a blitz.

My issue? defining the difference between "conquering" and "holding" a territory.
Some missions require you HOLD Great Britain, you must conquer it, and remain in its occupation until it is your turn again, before playing that card at the Start of your turn, before any other play.
Others like mine, insist you conquer 7 territories and play that card at the END of your turn, after those territories have been conquered.

    Here is the dilemma,
should I be able to conquer 1 territory every turn for 7 turns, then play my card?
or would I have to conquer all 7 territories in 1 turn to play the card?

and, if the First is true to completing the mission, then would i have to hold each of those seven territories until i have conquered seven?
or, would it not matter if it was taken back, as it could still be said that at a stage in the game, i had conquered that territory.

    [My Opinion]
to me at this stage, it seems most plausible, that the conquering of a territory is to be done WITHIN the current turn for it to be valid, and carrying the conquering of a territory over turns is not an allowed rule, in this manor, my task is just as hard to complete as HOLDING the continent of Asia (with at least 7 odd territories (i think).
    [/My Opinion]

Given that, the following issue then arises, conquering 1 territory on 5 continents, there are 6 continents on the game board:
    North America
    South America
    Europe
    Asia
    Africa
    Australia

if i was to occupy 2 entire continents (say, North America and South America), and then i had to complete the mission of conquering 1 territory on 5 continents, doing this within 1 turn would be technically impossible, as i own 2 of the 6 continents, and that leaves only 4 left with territories that i can conquer in THAT turn.

If this was the case, could i claim that i had already conquered a territory in North and South America, and then only be required to conquer 1 territory on 3 other continents in order to play that mission risk card at the end of the turn and claim 1 Territory on 5 continents? or would i be required to wait and hope another player removes my occupation from 1 of the territories on one of the continents i own, before having to take it back along with 4 others withing 1 turn?

Sorry about the long winded explanation, however id like to hear peoples opinions on this, and what sort of house rule you think could cover it?
Also wouldn't mind hearing any other sorts of things you have come across like this during game play.. if you happen to play that is.

Thanks again, i hope you read this far

I wasted so many hours of my life playing this game (and Axis and Allies)

Me and my friends were never big on Mission Risk (I don't know why), but I seem to remember that we you could play the card after your turn (there were several times I had the win cruely taken from me ). However, we define conquering and holding as the same thing. So IF you did somehow conquer everything in one turn it would count, but if you held it, it would also count. However, thinking about it, this gives an unfair advantage to the first player.

Of course I also got the "eliminate green army" card, when I was North America, and green was Africa.
