    I Don't Know-I'll ask around!!

I found myself engaged in a conversation today with my younger cousin about Apple's new cell phone and about Apple computers. I know that some Apple products can be utilized with a computer running a windows OS; but when it came up I had no answer, or knowledge, about whether any Linux distro would work on an Apple computer.

Will an Apple computer only operate using an Apple OS?

    Nope.

Back in the days of PPC, there were still many distros that worked on Mac (Yellow Dog was PPC-specific, but many distros, such as Gentoo, had (and still have) PPC support). Now that Apple computers are onto x86, the main barrier is the new EFI BIOS format, but many distros are overcoming this.

I am in no way an Apple fanboy (if fact I have never really liked them) but that cell phone is pretty sweet (I am not going to buy it, but still....)

Agreed. It's too expensive (and does way more that I need for a phone) but it sure looks slick. That could probably be said about a lot of Apple's products.

QFT, their products are definitely pricey.

$499 for one with 4GB of storage space and $599 for one with 8GB. It's essentially the combined price of a Blackberry-ish device and an iPod Nano.

Keep in mind that the original iPods were that expensive as well. I imagine there will eventually be iPhone Minis or Nanos and the price of the technology will go down as the streamline the dev process... like any other electronic gadget really.
