Intro, rambling, running windows in linux, "Kill Bill," blah

Hi everyone who reads this (& if you're not reading it, you can go **** yourself!) ('cause they won't know I said so!)
Anyway, My first post - not exactly a question, more just an introduction & babbling.
If I had a question it would be, "How do I get linux to run within windows?" using SLAX "Kill Bill" with Qemu & Wine - I think the answer is to find some .bat file (qemu-win.bat?) on the live CD & execute? So I'll have to try that soon. Theres really no reason I need to do that, I just want to know how to in case there ever is. I chose "Kill Bill" (as opposed to DSL or whatever - too many to choose!) 'cause of Wine so I could use some Windoze programs I like &/or may need - & 'cause I liked the features. I'll probrably try something like BartsPE to run in linux so I know I've got it workable both ways. I didn't want to mess with any VMWare as its not portable. Cooperative Linux looks interesting, I'm still pretty much a n00b as far as linux is concernred (& I'm no pro with Windoze either) but I'd like to learn enough to be able to make my own (personal*) custum LiveCD based on SLAX, but perhaps using Kqemu (*proprietary) along with xtra stuff. I installed SuSE 10.1 on one of my computers some months ago, but I'm sure I probrably could have done a better job - first time installing linux - theres no sound (I think), & a few other probs, so I may be back for help with some of that if I ever decide to fix it. Right now I'm really interested in portable applications - especially if they also involve security & privacy concerns. Anyway, thats my into.

I might have commented on the "Running Linux Inside Windows Easily - Two Articles" thread, but it's locked for some reason. The links are 404. One of the articles listed there I also found HERE.

OK, guess it didn't work. Any help?

Do I just simply need more memory, or is there more to it than that? I'm a little lost here. Its on a Sony Vaio laptop - PCG-FX310 running XPpro SP1 w/ only 256mb ram - desperately needs an upgade to 512.
Might FreeDos help? (I'm guessing no.)
I'll be off scroogling acronyms like VCPI, EMS, etc.
Thanx in advance to anyone who might be able to help!

Oh, & my signiture quote applies to a lot of things, but in this case, I'm the one who does not know (much of anything it seems often times).

AFAIK the bat files in slax is only usable within dos-based windows (9x). If you use it on XP, it won't work. The bat file is for much simpler startup for computers that don't support booting from CD.

don't ever think of running slax purely under windows, because it can't. If you want to do that, use pc emulators instead like VMWare, BOSH, Qemu or Virtual PC.

VirtualBox has just been released under GPL:

Seems like a very nice alternative to VMWare or Qemu in many ways.

Guess I was a weeee bit overeager
I saw that with DSL (Damn Small Linux) you can run it in windoze - it has qemu - apparently though, it has to be adapted to run from a USB rather than just a CD for that to work, which I found out later. I was thinking that somehow it could be done from the CD, & if it could, then so could "Kill Bill," but no. "Kill Bill" can also be adapted to run from a USB, so I wonder if it would work the same as DSL then? If I ever get around to doing that, I'll post an update.

the killbill edition difference from standard edition is it includes wine to run windows softwares under slax. That's all.

I've tried qemu before, but it's too damn slow atm. But AFAIK you can run any operating system from qemu. But if you want to enjoy slax to the fullest, run it as it's meant to be run, without any emulation.
