I like to mill around this site from time to time. You can stream the whole album before you buy it:

The downside: you can't buy individual tracks.

There are netlabels (independent music that is free (both freedom and beer) that have some very good bands (mostly indie, some rap, hip-hop, rock, folk). There is also a HUGE amount of live music from major bands (Death Cab, the Decemberists, etc...)

In the car on the way to work this morning? Ironically it was Beethoven's 9th symphony performed by Berlin Philharmonic orchestra, on MP3, I have the CD on the shelf at home. It'll be Bach on the way home tonight.

Tomorrow, I'll be ready to switch back to the Kaiser Chiefs, Green Day and System of a Down.

Hi - I'm listening to quite a lot of things, flitting between classic rock and more contemporary sounds. Current listening is stuff like Iron Maiden, Poets of the Fall, Green Day, Nick Drake.

Half the time I can't remember what I've heard. I've found - now I'm a little older - the best way to keep in touch with new music is to chat to people much younger than me. Young people love talking about music ... this helps to stop me from turning into an old fart. Many of them seem to just accept my interest in them... though some are contemptuous and chose to ignore me.

It works both ways, as I can point them to older stuff ... half the time, though, they've already heard it. I wheel out my Bert Jansch, John Martyn stuff for them and they seem not to mind the ramblings of Uncle Johnny (me).

Some of the new Goth music sounds good to me (quite lyrical). There seems to be a bit of contempt for so called 'emo' music (angsty teen sounds).

There was some discussion about Disturbed covering Phil Colin's 'Land of Confusion' around my local music scene. It's well worth hearing!

Hello, I usually listen to metal/hardcore. As I Lay Dying, Pantera, It Dies Today, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Eighteen Visions, Everytime I Die, Norma Jean, etcetera.

Sometimes I listen to Godsmack, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Papa Roach, Mudvayne, and Slipknot; music like that. I also like Johnny Cash, Nick Drake, Toby Keith, Big & Rich, NWA and most other old school rap, etc.

    I prefer metal, though.

Been listening to quite a bit of Colin Hay recently, he was the singer for Men at Work for those of you who remember them. He does some Men at Work covers and has some really good new songs. Besides that I'm very diverse, I like every thing from classic rock to real punk rock (not that crap they've been calling punk rock for the past few years) to 80s, both metal and pop.

Mostly death metal for me, all those Swedish and Finnish bands like In Flames, Soilwork, At The Gates, Children of Bodom, and Darkane are great. I'll also listen to some blues or hardcore sometimes when I want to hear something different.
