    I'm on DistroWatch? What?

Apparently some well-intentioned but misinformed soul once again took my rants seriously and submitted the gNewSense rant to DistroWatch. Umm.. this is how bad things happen to me folks.

The last time this happened I was flooded by angry OSNews fanboys for my (admittedly completely unfair and morally questionable) rant on Slackware 11. Should I perhaps add yet another disclaimer telling people not to take me seriously? Or does it even matter, considering people don't seem to read the first one anyway?

It should be apparent that I don't really like fame (or infamy), and don't really know how to handle stuff like this. Any advice is welcome.

::EDIT:: In retrospect, I suppose it's better the gNewSense rant is one of my tamer ones... Heaven forbid someone posted aLinux, the first Ubuntu, or my Vista rants.

I think the best approach is to do nothing and see what happens. If something happens, continue to do nothing ... and additionally, deliberately don't care about it. That should confuse the hell out of them. It's also very liberating in the face of people who are overly 'proactive'.

Haha. I guess you have a point there. I know it's odd for me to (effectively) broadcast my rants on the internet and then get bothered when people actually listen to them... I guess I've just enjoyed obscurity for so long I don't know what to do.

Thankfully, looking at my web traffic having that rant posted hasn't killed my host like the OSNews post did. Probably because (as I mentioned before) I wasn't as colorful in that rant as some of my others.

    That's too bad...

I can't believe that anyone could miss your (many) disclaimers and actually take those seriously. Besides, who submits other people's reviews for them?

I don't think this submission will be nearly as noticeable as the front page of OSNews (a site known for its... colorful commentary), so it's probably not a big deal. I am curious who submits my rants to these sites. I'd be willing to bet it's not someone who frequents the forums, as I try to be explicit about my heavily biased, not at all comprehensive personal rants.

Speaking of, I'm looking for some new material. If I can get my hands on the ISOs for these distros, I'll write rants on them:

    *gNewSense 1.1
    FreeBSD 6.2
    *aLinux 12.8
    PCLinuxOS (whatever the newest is)

The ones with asterisks are strictly for comedic effect. I don't expect to like them.

It is odd that your most "abrasive" rants are always the ones that get posted.

Maybe it's time to publish a rant about stupid fanboys who dont have a sense of humour. Then when you get this kind of abuse, you can point them at your fanboy rant and make 'em look like twats in their own eyes.

After your first aLinux rant (I had a lot of fun reading that one), I'd love to see another.

Perhaps people are just more likely to spread something that gets their hackles up?

    Indeed they are.

And I agree with Fingal as well. Don't do anything about it, not only because it's confusing, but because everyone's entitled to their own opinions/rantings. In addition, people shouldn't always believe everything they see on their coloured pixels.
