From the comic " Dilbert "
I wish I could use a computer to put today's " Gilbert " comic strip from the New York Daily News into LinuxForums. It made me laugh so hard on the bus today I guess everyone thought I had gone insane. There are three comic panels.
In the first panel a short creature is standing on the bosses desk talking to the seated boss. He says " I came from a distant planet to bring you advanced technology, but no one here will listen. "
In the second panel the short creature states " I am a superior being, you moron! Listen to what I tell you and then do it! "
In the third panel the boss is standing with a cup in his hand talking to what looks like a seated kitten. The boss says " I fired him before he started yammering about Linux. The cat says " Easy come, easy go. "

I knew that was going to make it to linuxforums ever since I read it.
By the way ever looked at this site? It gives the world trends operating systems, browsers, search engines. I don't have any idea how reliable it is but something really shocked me. People still use Interner Explorer and Linux has a share of below 1%. I never had this idea, I thought Linux would be somewhere around 2%. Well if that site can be trusted with the stats then it explains why the poor alien was fired.
By the way this site had similar results. This one is with respect to market shares. I don't know how market shares work for free products. Need help here....

Thanks a lot for the links. I laughed again. I believe one of the things that has people hooked on windows is the fact that people paid for windows and do not want to give up on something that they paid for.
Also-how can anyone know just how many computers have both windows and one of the Linux distros?
I have an internet aquaitance that lives in Arizona who buys all of his computers from a shop run by two Linux guys who can't accept all of the orders customers want. I am hoping that someday some young Linux folks start their own computer company making quality computers with only Linux installed to sell to the general public.

I am doing that NOW!!!!
I aim to the lower income families and provide FREE support for the PC!
- 01-26-2007 #7Personally I hate that concept. I mean I can provide them with options (ok I can advertize some) but not (and never) force them to buy something. I am looking forward to purchase a new laptop and most of them come pre-installed with Windows and some other softwares. Now I don't think these guys doing business are so novice that they would provide me that for free. I don't want to "purchase" any more softwares. What I say for Windows also applies for Linux. Yes I don't want my laptop to be pre-loaded with SUSE or Fedora. Ask me what I want, if you have it good or else I will get it myself, Thank You very much.

But then you don't have to use it... It's there for the people who want a distro preinstalled, and anyone who doesn't can go somewhere else.
I have sold my soul to the penguin
