Here at work our newest Database server is going to be on Linux. I have been for a couple of years trying to get them to do it but previous administration have been against it. Mainly the reason was FUD they listened to over the years. New administration are willing to try it because the fact that an Oracle database just runs better on Linux than the current Windows platform. They are planning on going with the Oracle Linux which makes sense for us because of the support we already get from Oracle. I'm like a kid on Christmas morning lol!

i doubt they will convert everything to Linux. But i never thought they would do this much so you never know. They have SQL Server here so that is one reason there will never be a full exodus.

I'm so jealous.
I have a project I'm working on to implement a database and nice front-end at work, and I'm using PHP/MySQL on an aging Windows box. I'd prefer to have Linux host the whole thing, but I doubt they'll give me another box for that (and there's no way I can kick Windows off the current box).
