haha, those are funny highlighted reasons. THanks for the goodmorning laugh. I wish I had hardware capable of running vista smoothly...not that I want vista, but that would be a fast computer.

    7. Because you can freeze time...

    13. Because you need to know who the bad guys are...

    24. Because you don't want to worry about spyware

    50. Get more out of the web: Tabbed Browsing...

    57. Because you don't need a PC to watch your home movies

    66. Because everyone goofs sometimes

    10. Surf more safely

Some many of these are funny.

    44. Because you have a need for speed

Need to speed up your computer? Simply plug a USB memory stick into your desktop or notebook computer and let Windows ReadyBoost do the rest.
Is this saying it will use your flash drive as extra ram/swap? That is something new I haven't heard about (it seems really stupid). I am sure your hard drive transfer speed is faster than an usb connection could be, so you would be better off using extra virtual memory.

While MS is catching up, this release is still rather pathetic.
As for that *new* "ReadyBoost" feature, using external volumes for swap is already 30 years old.

None of the Vista features I liked from the first beta made it in the final release...

MS just filled a patent on a modular operating system:
    http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-...DN/20060282899
That makes you wonder why the hell they're doing the opposite.

CLI integration is still very bad as well.

The GUI looks less bare as the XP one and Windows finally comes with some kind of security.

I really wonder how MS will manage to sell this as a new version(500 Euro for some bug fixes is insane).

Basically they just fixed some very obvious faults from XP and added some new GUI stuff.

It's not all all bad(but still bad), but it's also not worth the extra money.

The part that jumps out at me is:

"Some product features are only available in certain editions of Windows Vista and may require advanced or additional hardware."

Which means that you have to shell out a lot more money to the Microsoft Empire and their hardware manufacturer vassals to have a fully functioning installation of Windows.

I believe I can get a distro of Linux that will run on pretty much any computer made - fully functional and free.

I guess thats the difference between an OS made by businessmen to make money and one made by computer enthusiasts to make the computer run better.
