    Favorite Windows Release... (!)

i'm just kind of curious to see where this might go. i'm feeling a little goofy today! :drown:

i choose MS-DOS. i loved using it when i was a kid. It was much easier then when i had to use Windows. Sorry if a specific version you like isn't up there. The max options is ten. i left out Vista because from what it sounds like no one is going to choose it... anything i've heard here is that it's worse then XP.

Ditto. It wasn't as fast or simple as DOS, but the GUI and multi-tasking made up for that.

Id say Windows 2000 pro was the peak of finished windows without bloat.

Right. While it had some problems (like any OS), Windows 2000 was stable, fairly fast, light on the resources, etc. Many things about XP are better, but the "bright and exciting" interface sort of annoys me.

Windows XP was much better than 9x and (god forbid) Millennium.
However, it was still crappy enough to drive me away.

I actually enjoyed Windows 2000 Professional. It was relatively stable and didn't have a lot of extraneous visual crap like subsequent versions did.

Seems like the thread is getting enough attention after all . I voted for Win98, was nice for it's time I think (especially since then I only knew about Windows). Never tried 2000...XP is nice for the fact that plug-and-play has been made much easier, but apart from that it doesn't impress me.

It's like asking what's your favourite STD.

2000 was the most stable Windows OS I've ever used.
