Very interesting. For those waiting for freespire 2.x the articles does explain that the release date for that has shifted from Q1 2007 to Q2 2007.

Although we don't know how this will turn out I'm hoping this this is a positive move for the wider Linux community. Both Free/Linspire and (k)Ubuntu offer features that pleases many Linux users and are certainly fairly well polished.

Interesting. I'll want to try out the "new" features in each of these once they come out. I'm curious what the benefits for each individual distro will be, realistically.

At first when I saw this I was worried that Ubuntu would get "contaminated" with stuff from Linspire (not to start a flamewar, but it seems really dumbed-down as opposed to just being easy to use), but it's good to see that Ubuntu will just be getting another (probably useful) way to get software.
