    Question Drive letters

    We have A: C: D: in windows ,then what's about missing B: ?
    Why we compute system time from jan-1-1970..any particular reason?

    The letters being drives doesn't mean anything. I've seen computers where the hard drive is I: and the card reader takes A through D, etc, etc...
    Two levels higher than a newb.
    (I can search google)

    by default, A: and B: letters are reserved for Floppy Drives, next letters are for Harddisk Partitions and Last letter for CD/DVD drives.
    you can assign any driver letter to any partition or Device though.

    Regarding the B as being a second floppy, it's just because of how things were done back in the DOS days! I remember a computer we used to have that had a 3.5" and 5.25" floppy, the 3.5" was A: and 5.25" was B. Most computers back then had 2 floppies, just like a lot of computers now a days come with 2 optical drives: CD and DVD. Soon all optical drives will be DVD, seeing as that's how 3.5" floppies took over for the 5.25"!

    Noooooo... we dont have A:, C: or anything else. Its /, /mnt, /media/... etc. Drive C: is for losers...
