I can highly recommend Powermanga. This game deserves to be better known! It's 2D and looks good, but it doesn't consume graphics resources. It looks like a commercial game, but it's fully GPL'd.
The only problem is, it took me ages to figure out how to get the best out of it. The trick is to collect power-ups as they fall, and press the Ctrl. key at the right times to upgrade your ship. I've come very close to completing the game, but haven't done it yet. I predict fun! It can take time to get the best out of it though.I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso
- 02-24-2007 #12Yeah that might be the problem becuase xmoto worked flawlessly using my ATi Radeon 9200 card in 1024x768 resolution. (NVidia will work better I think)haven't tried xmoto yet, but I think that have something todo with your hardware acceleration (need driver)
What's your graphics card type ?

My graphics card's dri feature isn't supported by linux, therefore no 3D acceleration. The graphics card is an SiS 760GX and this laptop is the reason I'll never own another SiS product again.
I'm installing Powermanga now. The name of this game is very misleading. I know what manga is (as in, Anime style comic). But apparently it's a space shooter. Let's see how nicely this plays with my laptop. Two levels higher than a newb.
