What's your screen-saver?
Hi all,
I though it might be a bit of fun to compare what screen-savers (not wallpaper) we are all running and why, if such a question has not been asked before. Basically, what did you select to run after a few minutes when leave your Linux box idle and why that choice?
Mine is Matrix code, it came with SuSe 10.0 which is my main O.S. The reason I chose it is firstly I'm a bit fan of the movies and secondly I think it looks really cool when I come back into the room with the light off and there is my PC and laptop showing Matrix code, just like the scene from the movie on board Morphieus' ship.

blank screen is my screensaver. Many use a fair amount of cpu when they run.

Hmm.. Well, my main home computer is now my laptop, which gets put to sleep when I'm not using it... so it's been quite a few years since I've used a screensaver. Here are a few favorites from my past:
- Flying Toasters, as part of AfterDark for MS Windows 3.11
- 3D Maze, from MS Windows 98SE
- Kill Barney, for Mac OS 8 and 9
- The "Matrix" Screensaver, from Redhat 7.3
- BSOD Screensaver, from Redhat 9...IIRC
- Marquee that says, "Stop looking at my computer..." for Fedora Core 1
- Marquee that says, "My other computer is a LINUX box..." for MS Windows XP at work

I used to love the Matrix and MatrixGL even better but it became a bit overdone with a lot of my mates using it. I like the GL screensavers, flurry I think is one...
I noticed when I ssh in that it is actually using a lot of CPU so another I use sometimes is the Space one that comes with Gnome. It is just a bunch of photos from space of Earth and the like. Pretty cool.

I'm using the GLMatrix theme, but sometimes I like the normal 2D matrix theme better becoz it looks more similar to "Matrix Movie" screens.

I use Solar Wind, from the GL collection. I just think it's pretty.
