Thumbs up Installed Suse 10.2 - It works for me

I am new to Linux. I have installed several distros of Linux over the past few weeks and could not resolve problems with LAN and net access.

Went in to Newsagency two days ago and bought latest Linux magazine which had dvd of suse 10.2.

I found the installation process logical and my system worked first time.

I am a happy little chappie,

It's nice to hear for a change how everything just works

That's how I find it all of the time because of my own hardware configuration. I think there are only a few odd pieces of hardware that really cause trouble like some wifi cards, some USB modems and of course some WinModems. Other than that I usually get on fine.

Some graphics cards are a pain as well.

    Glad everything worked out.

It is really difficult to configure some things in linux. I had a really hard time connecting to my wireless network. But you are really happy when you succeed, nice feeling.

Great to hear. Congrats. Don't forget to add some repositories into Yast.

    Take a look here http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_Ya...e_Repositories

I definitely recommend adding Packman & Guru (the first 2)

Yeah you get that nice feeling because it's something you do on your own, "That's why I love my linux box, I made it possible !". And this is the reason I stopped using windoz because it's not your own.

I agree. I tried 1 or 2 distros (live cds) and although I was impressed I had minor h'ware problems. Then I tried suse 10.1 and it worked "straight from the box" and when I upgraded to 10.2 it was even better.
    I love it!
