I'd like distros to be released with better wireless support. You can do alot or install new things without an internet, and wireless support is getting better.

You realize that most of this is completely out of the hands of distro maintainers, correct?

most of the lack of wireless support has to do with chip sets that manufacturers don't release the information about so that drivers can be written or at least they don't write Linux drivers for them as well. the best thing to do is to thoroughly research any wireless card you plan to buy and make sure its a chip set that works with Linux drivers. I spent a week looking through cards and found a D-Link card with atheros chip set that would work and bought it. plus i posted a review about it on new egg stating that it works with Linux. part of my research has come up with new egg reviews that state that Linux users had luck getting it to work.

a base installation that's very minimal and everything working right out of the box that would work as a plain server. Better current hardware supports. Module based. Like I want a KDE, so I just download 1 file, without worrying dependencies, install it and tadaa I have a fully working plain KDE (without any softwares included, just the GUIs).

I agree. The environment that i've found closest to my taste is fvwm-crystal but I just don't use it because of it's complete lack of custumization. recipe's are the most retarted idea i've ever heard of.

If you want to improve distributions, select your favorite one and join their test-team(s). Help to improve it

I'd like to see a distro (any distro) put a severe crimp in the M$ Desktop market.
Maybe it'll be Mozilla.

Nah, just wishful thinking.

That is the last thing I want. WIndows has already had enough security issues with IE being so key to the OS. The last thing we need is to build a entire desktop of gecko and xul. One flaw takes everything down.

What do you think?
Have two AMD 500 K6 II running on Mepis, one PIII 1 gighz running on Mepis, one AMD 650 mhz running on mepis, one AMD 1.3 mhz running Mepis, so what is your point? And none of these machines have video cards supported by Beryl, so how can it be on by defalut?

Bang, hit the nail on the head, that is why Vista is still playing catch up to us.
