    WTF????
Have they passed the patent law that virtually allows thougths and ideas to be patented? Why do suddelny feel a very strong lust to pathent "something very fundamental" (wont disclose, if some one of the spies from the corps that are scared of OSS get the idea of stealing my brilliant 3V1L idea) and sue everyone I hate?

Chris H, where do I sign up?

[edit]I wonder where the HLL the massmedia are now? usually they're everywhere when it comes to things that could become a weeks headline, this would sure be possible to make a nice headline from - or maybe they can't make any news on it as that process migth be patented?[/edit]

software patenting in the EU like those already extant in the USA....
basically, you can patent any software idea that hasn't already been patented and charge people money to use the idea, even if they're not using your code. e.g. in the USA, Amazon has a patent on "one-click checkout" or whatever that is.. if you have anything resembling that on your website, by US patent law, you owe them royalties on any revenue generated...
Their code will be beautiful, even if their desks are buried in 3 feet of crap. - esr

hmm, correct me if I'm wrong but does "no one" mean more than 50% of the total voters? =)

(perhaps this is getting a bit (too) political for this topic?)
