Hmm maybe Bravenet, Invision, or Proboards may work for you. Be prepared to face some ads though.
I praise Webmin and PuTTy!

i'm fine with having a couple of ads as long as their not absurd ones like Yahoo has on their hosted websites. Thanks for the help, i'll surely check them out.

Does it have to be free? How about cheap?
I use Dreamhost so I can give promo codes out. That's how I got set up anyway. You can register one domain, have 200GB of storage and 2TB of transfer for about

Have your heard about Forumotion?
It's very easy to sign up, you simply need to provide the forum name, subdomain (what will appear in the URL), password, email address and the category of the forum. All of this takes around two minutes, after which you can choose the initial forum skin, then you are taken directly to your new forum.
Give it a try
: create forum
Hope this can help!
