Actually, those three at the bottom are real ads. They're from Novell.

I haven't seen the third one before: it's amazing.

When i saw that Novell symbol i thought they were real. Then i read a little bit on the website and figured that the people must have made them. That's amazing, i never thought there would be real ads like that with Linux involved.

Although, it is funny to see a linux character (a female was a good choice) I sure hope Novell doesn't plan on running these beyond their website. It would tell me as a potential user, this linux just uses other people marketing ideas instead of doing some creative themselves.

    Same.

Anybody have any idea how many people use Mac, Windows and Linux?

The estimate is 30 million Linux users (see movie 1).

And btw, Novel posted them on their website, in MPG and OGG format

I found the article interesting, particularly the part where they talk about how they chose the actress for Linux, right down to what clothes she was going to wear, how "unattainable" versus "homely" she should be, and the fact that she wasn't wearing her engagement ring. There were a lot of subtle psychological things that I didn't notice myself noticing until I read the article. I happened to think the Linux lady was quite attractive, but I didn't know specifically why.

I really like the idea of Linux being a woman and not just because I'm one myself. The truth is I hate Linux's geeky image. I think Linux is a woman because:

    1. She is eminently practical.
    2. She is a good housekeeper who can manage well with limited resources.
    3. She never breaks down (women have far fewer mental breakdowns than men).
    4. She is very good at anything to do with communications.
    5. She is not so good at games.
    6. She fusses about security and refuses to take unnecessary risks.
    7. She prefers to help people rather than to make a lot of money.
    8. She doesn't advertise her achievements and so tends to get overlooked.
"I'm just a little old lady; don't try to dazzle me with jargon!"
