    Seen any good movies lately?

Well, have you? My girlfriend has a Netflix account and we're always looking for new things to throw in her queue. What do you recommend, and why? Feel free to recommend things that are still in theaters as well.

I realize that movies (as well as actors and directors) can sometimes attract an almost religious following, and I don't really want to start a discussion of that type here. Please try to only emphasize the *positive* aspects of a movie you've seen.

Eragon: don't expect the book to be transfered onto the screen, 'cause you will be disappointed. Look at the movie as being just "a" movie (forget the book) and you will enjoy it. Of course, the book is much more detailed/more plots/etc....

Zodiac: Very realistic historical reproduction, good acting.

La Vie en Rose (La Môme in French): Excellent movie, exceptional acting, very emotional piece of work.

Maybe I'm overly picky, but it seems like there haven't been very many good movies lately.

I thought that Batman Begins was the best Batman movie I've seen:

I'll try to think of some more to list.

Well, it probably helps that I've never read the books. Until the movie I'd never even heard of them.

Agreed on both points. I enjoyed Batman Begins. I'm cautiously optimistic for Spiderman 3 and TMNT, but I'm not sure if I'll see either in the theater.

I'm holding my breath on Transformers. It could go either the Uwe Boll "I'm raping your childhood one movie at a time" way or the Bryan Singer "Wow, I forgot just how cool those stories were" way... I'm of course hoping for the latter.

If you like serious drama and haven't seen it yet, check out Cider House Rules:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0124315/

It came out in 1999, so it has a few years on it, but the acting and story were great. The musical score is very nice, too.

The only recent released (past 4 years) movies I have seen were Borat and City of God. I recommend both, especially City of God which has to be one the best movies to come out in the last 5-10 years. Capote was pretty good too.

For Comedy Badder Santa if you haven't seen that yet. It is twisted and alot of swearing. Just a warning if you don't like that kind of movie. But I laughed all the way through the movie.

The Departed - It definately deserved the Oscar. Not a fan of Scorese, but this was a great flick.

Serenity right now is my all time favorite. I am irratated that Firefly( TV series that Serenity was based off) was cancelled. It is 14 episodes. I would see if you could get the Firefly Series on Netflix.

Another show if you like skit type British humor is Little Britain

Not sure if it is out on DVD yet, but we saw Music and Lyrics with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. That was pretty good.
