It looks like it would use up a lot of ink very, very quickly.

it doesn't really,
it just prints using lots more nozzles instead of waiting for a print head to run over the page.

Interesting. Mead Digital Systems/Diconix had similar (wide printhead) systems in the 70's/80's, but only single color and much poorer resolution. This looks like a high-tech update to those types of systems. And it would be much faster than scanning printheads, although the cost was fairly ferocious for the Mead printhead systems.
I notice that there does not seem to be price information on these printheads.

sounds like it is only practical for large corperations.

The company that made them is going to sell it to other companies, thus not producing it themselves.
I was told the price would start at $200AUD.
