    Question About Windows

I know the code of windows is proprietary, but, couldn't an extremely skilled programmer strip windows of all the drm, activation, and all the other proprietary bull and then redistribute it?

There would probably be some pretty heavy copyright issues in doing that. You know how Microsoft is. Besides that, i can't think of any reason someone would want to do that either (maybe you do, let me know if you do), it would take SO MUCH time and effort.

I think the EULA would probably prohibit doing what you propose, but I'm no copyright lawyer. Take a look at section 13:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/eula.mspx

It says that "all component parts" of the software must be in place if any transfer should occur, or at least that's the way I read it.

Well I know it would be illegal to do, but I kind of support a lot of illegal things (am I allowed to say that? am I in trouble now? if so I take back the previous statement). But seriously I use windows to play games, and that's about it. But it would be really nice if someone could do that.

EDIT: And once support is cut to XP I will permanently switch to Linux because I would rather have bleeding rectal cancer than upgrade to Vista.

Are you assuming that said person has access to the source code?

It's against the forum rules to discuss illegal activities here:
