i have dual purpose with distros. i have an easy to use one for everyday use however i like to play with others just to see what i can do. my plan with this Debian is to try putting it on an old laptop to make one of those digital picture frames. may be cheaper to buy one but what the heck its worth the trouble to me. i am a crafty person love to take stuff apart and make new stuff. I have become a distro slut as of late. i watch distro watch and when a new version of a particular distro is released i download it and install it in a virtual bubble play around with it for a bit and remove it. i think i have burn at least 15 different distros in the past two months just for fun.

Depending on my access to faster internet I may be doing a rant on Etch, since it's stable now. I'm curious to see their new "graphical" installer.

Just a note that to get the gui you have to use "installgui" or "expertgui" options, it defaults on the ncurses installer.

I like the new release, have had no problems at least so far, and don't mind that the software is a little out of date.
I think that the removing non-free stuff from Mozilla's apps and rebranding them was hypocritical though. Debian has non-free repos that you can enable at the start, and is thus not fsf approved, so why were they pissed at Mozilla's non-free elements when they had them as well? Well it took me all of two clicks to give Iceweasel Adobe flash, so I've already dirtied it up.
That's it, I'm happy with everything else. I like that Debian is not gnome-centric, they spent as much time on kde as gnome, which I can't say about Ubuntu, sadly.
With the release of Debian Etch and Mepis 6.5, it's already been a damn good April for linux and it's only going to get better.
- 04-11-2007 #16Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't aware of that.

Bryan, yeah the trademark is non-free. I shouldn't have said stuff, but trademark. Thanks for the clarification.

Debian also supports more architectures than Mozilla does.
Using only Mozilla updates simply wouldn't work on them.
