    Hey, how's it goin?

Hi, noob here. I'm a computer science student majoring in Computer Security and Information Assurance. I've hit a point where I have to learn Unix.
I'm taking a class called C and Unix this term with a really good teacher and I'm in a Security class that's about 60/40 Unix/Windows with a teacher that is focusing on security and assuming we already know the operating systems, it's a reasonable assumption but it means I'm frantically Googling Unix syntax.

So right now I'm using the SimplyMEPIS LiveCD to work on my security assignment (the first assignment is a Unix/Networking review). Which is why I'm here. I'll probably need to actually install Mepis to finish this assignment. That's not too big of a deal, I've installed it before, I just never ended up using it.

Welcome aboard. Just as a gentle reminder (I am not saying you'll do such a thing) that homework questions are against the rules. That said, hope you have a great time with *nix.

Thanks for the reminder, I'm hoping the mods will be ok with me asking for suggestions when I'm stuck as long as I don't just post my assignment and ask for the answer.
