Open letter to Warner chairman Edgar Bronfman

I haven't seen a post to the effect of this topic yet, so I thought I'd make a quick post.
Defectivebydesign are running a petition in order to persuade the chairman of Warner, Edgar Bronfman, to reconsider their position on DRM. Many people seem to be under the assumption that petitions don't work, yet with the recent Apple petition that was run and the fact that they are now dropping DRM, something that failed to be done through the courts, our voice obviously still carries some opinion.

The letter in a nutshell says, "drop DRM or I'm boycotting your products", the goal was 500 signatures and it's already at 1038, however you can never have too many signatures.
You can find the petition here, it closes tomorrow (Friday) so be quick.

The petition is now closed and ended with 1346 signatures, it might have been worth running it a little longer, but we'll see where this goes.

This may seem premature, but with the recent deal between Warner Music and Myspace for DRM infected music to be distributed, I doubt that a resolution will be achieved soon, however that doesn't mean it wasn't worth a try.

There are 4 main music groups to contend with, Warner Music is merely number 4 on the list, EMI is number 3 and has recently made a deal with Apple to distribute DRM-free music, it doesn't seem like such a big task when a more major company has agreed to distribute DRM-free and the targeted company is of much lower priority.
The other two are Sony BMG and Universal, we all know the scandal caused by Sony BMG with their copy-prevention scheme which they very quickly revoked, so if there is any company to target right now that knows the costs of imposing DRM upon us, Sony would be the one.

As of right now I'm boycotting the purchase of any form of entertainment from either Warner Music, Sony BMG and Universal, at least until a resolution is achieved. EMI has saved themselves some dignity by at least offering DRM free music through particular channels and for recognizing and publicly stating that DRM is nothing more than a frustration to customers. I hope you will consider doing the same.
