Hans Reiser trial gets a new angle

    http://www.wired.com/politics/law/news/2007/05/reiser#

So...this certainly raises a few new questions...

Sturgeon's answers in the 40-minute interview were frequently evasive, and he declined to answer specific questions about the alleged killings. "I have offered to be judged for my crimes," he said at one point. "I take responsibility for what I have done."

Nonetheless, he vigorously denied killing Nina Reiser. "I've never been a threat to Nina Reiser," Sturgeon said.

It should be an interesting case to say the least.

I'm wondering if the reiserfs will keep going forward if he goes to prison?

He's definitely a very smart fellow, but if he did it, I hope he's not smart enough to get away with it.

If he didn't do it, hopefully he won't have to go through pure hell to be found innocent.

What did this guy have to do with Linux? i've done a little reading on him but haven't found out much. Is he very influencial in the Linux community?

This case has a number of very strange circumstances.

He's the guy that put together the reiserFS:

I don't use the reiserfs (I still use ext3) but lots of folks do.

So Reiser's friend, Sturgeon apparently killed people too, or did he say that Reiser had killed other people?

basically this guy dated reisers ex wife for a short period and has confessed to killing up to 9 people however said in an interview that he denies killing reisers ex. also it looks like the evidence against reiser is pretty concrete though they don't have a body. The guy that confessed to the other killings isnt saying that reisers has killed anyone. It is a bizarre twist to the story. I guess reiser's ex wife dated the guy but later broke it off because of weird behavior and a liking for sadomasochism.
