    Smile Penguins on the move

Is anyone curious about Linux on mobile devices, like phones, PDAs etc.? I'm not really passionate about this subject, but it seems to be getting a lot of media attention. For example, I just read about Ubuntu's Mobile and Embedded project on the BBC's website.

Also, Trolltech's Greenphone has been featured in one or two articles in recent Linux magazines. It costs!

I have very mixed feelings about mobile devices. Why? Because although you can contact people any time, any place they can be used to pester you. Nuff said.

That's twice in a week we've seen links to BBC articles about Linux posted here; finally they're acknowledging it exists. I'm staggered...

And as for mobile devices? They're great until you lose them and you cant remember anyone's phone number. I'd be lost without my mobile phone - these days I call someone, not some number.

Linux would be intriguing on these devices, but I'd not go out of my way to get one. I'd like to see it though, although I'd hate to have to use a command prompt from my mobile phone keypad.

Are you telling me you'd rather type "fsck" than "333777722255"?

I think it's an interesting idea but I probably won't ever do it. I have no use for PDAs/PDA Phones so all I'll ever have is a cell phone. Although my cell phone's OS does crash randomly once a week. Linux would fix that...

Yep it is in the media quite a lot lately, I mean even the Nokia 770 and N800's come with it, however they are not phones...but pretty damn close to it and might surely be in the future.

I read about these in recent LinuxFormat magazines
