I thought it was also going to be using qt4, so it would be faster......

I don't know how much Oxygen has worked with them, but I wish they would have used Tango as the starting point (not use the theme, just the framework of naming and shadows, etc...), so perhaps we could get some icons across all desktops that look good and make sense.

I ran the Live CD the other day. It looked pretty cool. Of course it was alpha stage so I'm not going to make any negative comments. Dolphin actually really reminded me of nautilus though I really didn't think it would. I had a quick look at the Amarok 2.0 preview. I'm pretty excited about the new layout for that. Some people don't like the current layout but I don't think anyone would fault its functionality. The Oxygen Icons looked nice and certainly brought a newer feel to KDE. I used to be a really big KDE fan (and still am) but the last few releases haven't excited me at all.

Considering we are not even seeing Plasma yet I would be quite excited about the new technologies that will show up in 4.0. I hope we're not left with too much postponed to 4.1.

That really made me crack up. Must be one of the most worrying things I've ever read on this forum

I'm impressed with the Oxygen theme. I'm guess they're still going to stick to starting every KDE app with the letter 'K'

Gwenview. :P

If they use just a tiny fraction of the mockups on kde-look I'm going to be happy.

Yeah, I must admit that I'm anxious to play some with the new Dolphin file manager to see how it measures up:

Dolphin

The file manager has always been a very important part of any OS for me.

I tried it a while ago before I knew it was part of kde4. Didn't think much of it.

That's too bad... hopefully, it will be much better by the time KDE4 hits the streets. Konqueror is good, but I've never liked the fact that it's a web browser and file manager.

Well, kde has allways worked awfully slow on my old computer. Of course I've been using top-edge distros like Fedora 6 and ubuntu Edgy (and 7) so I guess that was a big factor. Now I've installed Debian and it runs lightning-fast (on gnome) so maybe there's a chance for me ). Anyways I'm downloading the livecd now. Never did have a look at suse either.

KDE4 LiveCD has tons of bugs right now. you can just overview Amarok and Dolphin only. most of other packages dont work properly and errors pop up now n then.
