Hope they work out well for you, MikeTbob, and I'd be interested in hearing how it goes.
Generally, I use the Bitstream Vera fonts under Linux and have been pretty happy with them, thus far. Each time I've installed the MS core fonts, I've wound up removing them right away because my bitstream fonts look much better, in my opinion.
At any rate, it's about time that Linux gets some good default core fonts, so I'm hoping these (or some others) will eventually fulfill that purpose.oz

Well, I tried the fonts. Not quiet what I was looking for, it only adds 3 fonts to Firefox, Liberation Sans, Liberation Serif, Liberation Mono, and their not bad, but they aren't anything spectacular.

I've tried to use both bitstream and dejavu fonts in firefox but the problem I've found is that their character spacing between characters is slighter larger then the MS ones (arial, courier new etc.). As a result I fit less text per line on some websites (take a look at wikipedia as an example).
Only a small thing but because I have a laptop so screen real-estate is very valuable.
I'll certainly take a look at these news one when I get home though. Thanks for the info Ozar

Hi, zba78
Yeah, I know what you mean about the spacing and smaller screens. I have a large screen so prefer the extra spacing. Hope these fonts work out well for you.
Let us know...

I'm afraid they didn't work for me. The character spacing was much better but sadly the fonts were too blurred. Perhaps they don't work well with sub-pixel hinting turn on to full but with a laptop LCD screen I have no choice.
Hope it works well for others though.
