    Um, hey...

Since there really isn't any other place where it looks like I can post an introduction thread, I'll just do it here. My username (IE: Display Name) is iyeru42, and I've had a fixation with Linux for quite sometime. Although I'd love to stick around for a real discussion, I kind of need some urgent attention with my Wireless Card. Even though I know it has been discussed before in that forum, I've noticed it was never properly solved.

Oh, and I also love Anime and RPGs.

Hello and welcome: hope you get your card fixed soon.

Thanks, but it isn't the card. Fedora Core 6 doesn't have the driver.

Actually, it is the card. A lot of wireless card manufacturers refuse to provide Linux drivers, or even the specifications for their hardware that would make it possible for other people to develop them.

Yeah, but WinXP was able to detect it fine when I could still install WinXP. (I can't anymore due to Fedora Core being installed.)

When new Linux users go to comparing Windows and Linux, they are usually directed to this thread explaining many of the differences:

I'm one of those that is very happy they are different.

Hopefully, you'll get past the problem you are working on without too many difficulties.

I've already tried copying the firmware, I've done the modprobe, I've done the make on ieee correctly (But it installed to the wrong directory, IE: Not includes or build.) And many other things.

    hiya there
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?
