Anyone know of any KDE app that gives you a more windows-like menu bar?

And (im using mandriva with GNOME installed) will installing KDE along side gnome make it boot up slower?

No it won't boot any slower, but as a recommendation use the appropriate display manager for the Desktop you finally settle on. It should integrate better. Use KDM if you use KDE most, and GDM if you use Gnome most.

I can't believe you'd want Linux to look like Windows! I remember years ago I had Mandrake looking like OSX for a while but these days KDE and Gnome look a lot better.

    I found this:

    My Vista Linux :) KDE-Look.org

He's using KDE along with KBFX. He used this KBFX theme:
    KBFX - Vista like KDE-Look.org

And used a Vista-like menu button, some of which can be seen at:
    KDE-Look.org

Using these tools, you can make ANY distro use that menu so long as you have KDE.

Let us know how it goes.

Than it's not a good clone, is it? I think the OP should not leave it at KDE, but proceed and install Beryl. Have all the flash lights and cool features. Man, if I had a new *bling* computer, I'd want that.

    Sorry, another quick question:

I have only gnome installed at the moment, but i have the free mandriva spring dvd, and i was wondering how i could install kde off of the dvd. I want it off the dvd because i have a download allowance and downloading kde from the net will waste it.

    According to:
Docs/Basic tasks/Installing and removing software - Mandriva Community Wiki

The DVD should already be a repository for rpmdrake. If you go to System --> Configuration --> Packaging, there should be some way to verify this. You should then just need to put in the DVD and use rpmdrake to install KDE.

I confess to being extraordinarily unfamiliar with Mandriva, so the details of this process are unknown to me. If this doesn't work, let us know specifically, and we can try and help you more.
