Hmm yeah. I keep playing Vulture's Claw (and I know it's not a strategy game) but it's the same syndrome. I don't like it that much, I'm hopeless at it but I play anyway. It can be amusing though when - as a Flame Mage - you get followed around by a large orange poodle.
Wesnoth is okay, but I swear that some of it can't be completed once you reach a certain point. Then you need to start a level over again. It looks okay, but I don't think it's all that great. Must admit that I managed to successfully complete part of it, and that felt pretty good!

For some reason the world 'Wesnoth' makes me think of Wensleydale, which over here is a type of cheese. If anyone wants to write a satirical version of Wesnoth, please call it 'The Battle for Wensleydale.'

he's brittish, everything sounds like cheese.
...... that doesnt make any sense, nevermind that.
wesnoth isnt like the cutting edge or anything, but it does go to show that loose knit open source open standard can actualy make something more than a collage project that got dropped after graduation.
its this and scorched3d that are keeping me busy. scorched 3d is another very good game and it reminds me of when i was 7.nVidia G-Force 6600GT (bfg) pci-e: amd 64 2000+ (939): 1024 corsair ram: 2X 80gb seagate harddisk SATA: plextor cd/dvd-read/write cdrom SATA

i have always played the battle for Wesnoth since i first loaded OpenSuse onto my computer...i just keep on downloading more and more campaigns until after an hour or two i get ired of it. then i would probably either pop onto the 360 and play Oblivion or WoW.

i just hate how you loose your high level characters. its so hard to get them up there and then like 3 orc things surround him and beat the hell out of him untill hes dead. wow, thanks for screwing up like 3 maps worh of crap just to get him killed.
im currently doing the dessert elf campaign and they keep doing these levels where its you versus three other guys where three of your guys are worth one of theres. it realy sucks becase you get a bunch of upper levels and then you have to use them all just to keep from barely loosing the game.nVidia G-Force 6600GT (bfg) pci-e: amd 64 2000+ (939): 1024 corsair ram: 2X 80gb seagate harddisk SATA: plextor cd/dvd-read/write cdrom SATA

That's the trouble with these turn based games. I've lost so many high level characters ... Sometimes in just one move when something really nasty zaps you with something; like a wand of death in my case. But it's just a game (he said through gritted teeth).
It's more like playing chess than anything else, but I think a lot of open source games are too challenging. I don't mind a learning curve, but I want to be entertained as well ... I haven't got months to spare to work out that I should have done this or that to finish a game.
