that new lp cd
any one else hear the new linkin park cd. not just the "what ive done" that they lay on the radio and tv all the time. i mean the whole thing.
personally i think it sucks. really bad. the only good one is "what ive done". all the rest are useless. they haven't really made anything good since meteora.
they tried to do this thing where they are going to be "different than before" and that this is suppose to be "the real linkin park". as it turns out, the real linkin park is the same as everyone else seems to be now. anti-war and anti-bush, which i personally don't agree with, but that doesn't mean that everybody now needs to be making themselves about it.
ok, fine everyone is entitled to there own opinion, but don't try to say that you are going to be new and innovative, when you are just following the crowd. they got rid of what made them unique and likable, to something ive heard stamped out before.
anyway, what d o other people think of this, i know linkin park is widely accepted as a good band, so i figured that other people here would have more to about this band in particular than another bandnVidia G-Force 6600GT (bfg) pci-e: amd 64 2000+ (939): 1024 corsair ram: 2X 80gb seagate harddisk SATA: plextor cd/dvd-read/write cdrom SATA

To be honest I've only heard one tune from the new album and (IMHO) it sucked.
I never really liked linkin park that much til I saw them live, and they were amazing. Really high energy, and really good to watch.Registered Linux user #388328 || Registered LFS user #15880

lol bejamin,
the war in irag has been a good thing for flagging bands and new artists the world over!
for me they didnt really make much of a change from the first album to meteroa, and although there were some decent tracks, its was a bit bland and samey. not heard the new album yet but dont think i'll spend my money judging on what everyone is sayingYou know, aliens are going to come to earth in 50 years and kill the hell out of us for DDoSing their networks with this SETI crap

Well, I played at a small gig the other night. Some work colleagues and me formed a band, and we performed Holiday by Green Day. We only had 3 hours practice time, so we were a bit raw.
I think Linkin Park are a pretty poor band. Too commercial for me ... There do seem to be a lot of bands jumping on the anti-Bush bandwagon. It's not like singing about something changes very much, but you've got to express your anger somehow.I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso

lol, well greenday famously jumped on that bandwagon too, and i think they are well past their best.

This is slightly off topic, but didn't they used to have 2 vocalist?

they did. i've not heard anything from the new album and i don't want to. i went off linkin park when i stopped being an angsty, irritating teen (so about 10 minutes ago :P). nah, seriously, i just don't listen to them any more. they're fairly poor.
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

they have two vocalists. some asian guy does the rapping and some other guy does the other stuff.
i think about now you can officially say they suck as a band. there first two cd's were actually good. but there third was just a bunch of remixes, which i dont think shows that your band is worth anything when you try to sell a remix cd as if you actually made new songs. there fourth was with jz, and i heard a little bit of it and it barely qualifies as music. now there fifth shows that they ae all about the money, by hyping it up so much where you play the only good song on the cd all the time, and the rest is just a political statement. with the mention of greenday i feel like they follow the same path, making the same song over and over again and throwing politics into the mess.
while you have the right to "express yourself" and all that crap, i dont see why you would alianate large groups of people for no reason. it seem like you are kinda saying "wel, its not really good enough to get attention on its own, so, lets try to get a group of people to like it because we think like they do".nVidia G-Force 6600GT (bfg) pci-e: amd 64 2000+ (939): 1024 corsair ram: 2X 80gb seagate harddisk SATA: plextor cd/dvd-read/write cdrom SATA

That depends on what you think about artistic expression. If you say that music is about 'just selling songs' then you'll be happy to write pop songs about 'everlasting love' and 'onwards and upwards'. And jingles for adverts (same thing).
If you want to write about real life & death issues, then yes ... you not only risk alienating some people, but that's also your job. You won't be as well off, but you'll retain some integrity. Art is about challenging peoples' assumptions in the hope they'll start asking some questions. If it doesn't do that - and it just makes you feel cosy - then it's Perry Como.I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso

true, and it is really sad that that is true. it doesn't seem to be that you can make songs about new discoveries in science, or anything educational, it always has to be something emotional.
but then there are people who sing about nothing in particular. like what the hell are cheeseburgers in paradise, completely pointless but people like the music. i feel that it should really be about the music, not what they are trying to say.nVidia G-Force 6600GT (bfg) pci-e: amd 64 2000+ (939): 1024 corsair ram: 2X 80gb seagate harddisk SATA: plextor cd/dvd-read/write cdrom SATA
