What a fantastic song! It has been ages since I heard it. I am going back in time and managing to get pretty good music for my library......

Sweet, was a pretty decent band, I've always liked them.

Funny thing that you mention this, I have been doing the same except I went WAYYYY back, I mean 1930-1950 Blues baby, Robert Johnson, Son House, Blind Willie McTell, this is like, my granddaddies music!

Sweet is OK! They're best song, in my opinion, is Ballroom Blitz which isn't a great song (it's good, not great).

I went through that phase too! Most of my songs are from 60s, 70s and 80s. I simply cannot listen to what people have been putting out. Everything is so commercial that all the actual talent is gone. People who really can't sing are picking up the microphone. Honestly, I think the music industry needs and overhaul. Anything that is good is from the guys back in the 80s and 90s (think Chris Cornell's latest, Audioslave before that, the come back of the 80s bands, etc).

I also have that song and I like it a lot. The thing with Love Is Like Oxygen is that there is a instrumental part that is just out of this world. Anyhow, 70s you said? Have you heard Summer Madness by Kool And The Gang? Go ahead! It is from 1974 and it is fantastic.

I don't know much Blind Willie McTell, but plenty of Robert Johnson and a few Son House songs. I love a lot of early blues because without it ... no rock music! I want to listen to more Lightnin' Hopkins as he had such a tight guitar sound.

Sweet were a good band! Haven't heard 'Love is Like Oxygen' for many years, but I suppose I personally identify with the lyrics.

Well, I don't really like disco/funk (or whatever you want to call it)! I generally like the rock that came from that time better, even though there are some songs from other genres that I like as well. A few bands that come to mind is Thin Lizzy, Tom Petty, etc. I'll check that song out, see if I like it!

The strange thing about Summer Madness is that it can't be classified as funk or disco in my opinion. I am tempted to say jazz but that's no jazz tempo... It is instrumental that relies heavily on keyboards and bass (and what a bass!) I believe that you will like it a lot... Very rare!

I am going to check on Thin Lizzy to see what's the deal and if I want to have it on my library...

    Man I love music threads
It's funny that sweet song was mentioned because I was watching it on YouTube recently. Check out that Reverse Thunderbird/Firebird combo! Kickass.

I like that there are so many other blues fans. Recently I've been listening to Blind Boy Fuller, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Big Bill Broonzy and some John Lee Hooker. Actually I just got back from the Rory Gallagher Tribute Festival this morning. Excellent. Three days of beer, blues and buddies. Brian Meakin Band were outstanding as always.
