Lightbulb Question about Dell and Novell

I was reading a thread here and came accross a statement that said MS, Novell and Dell were not to be trusted. I am not up on the latest news but isn't Novell A linux developer? Isn't Dell a member of the Linux foundation? Dell offers Linux pc's now, and even offers tech support for their linux systems. Is there something I need to know? It appears to me from what I've been reading that Dell supports Linux and its developement.

I just bought a Dell laptop, preinstalled with Ubuntu 7.04 to help support the Linux cause.
    Alienware M17
Dual ATI 3870 512Mb ram each
    intel 5300 wireless
    Ubuntu 8.04

You're likely to get a lot of ranting on this thread. I'd suggest you google "microsoft novell deal". and make your own mind up.
