apple has been on every tv or movie show since like 15 years ago. its all part of that "its the hip thing" attitude.
but ya, product placements are really sucky. soon we will be going to the movie theaters to see big long boring advertisements.nVidia G-Force 6600GT (bfg) pci-e: amd 64 2000+ (939): 1024 corsair ram: 2X 80gb seagate harddisk SATA: plextor cd/dvd-read/write cdrom SATA

That is how I felt during this movie. I don't watch many movies -- once a month. And I never noticed so much product placement until KNOCKED UP. I laughed maybe 5 good times in the movie; other than that I can't say it was worth my $20.50 (myself & girlfriend).

I robot was like that, I wouldn't of minded so much if it wasn't such a crap film.

Usually product placements don't annoy me but there are times when they're so blatant it takes away from the movie. I remember watching Men in Black 2 and thinking to myself, "Here's the MIB headquarters where thousands of intergalactic travelers get their first impression of Earth and the best restaurant we can come up with is Burger King??"
Regarding Apple, their product placement team is top-notch. Pretty much any movie I've seen in the last 10 years has had at least one iMac, Powerbook, iBook, iPod, Apple Cinema Display, or G4 Powermac tower. In Mr. Brooks last night I noted a black MacBook and an iPod nano on one of their ridiculously overpriced lanyard/headphone gadgets.Registered Linux user #270181

I must be going blind, I really hadn't noticed all the Apples placement.
I thought the product placement in Waynes World was funny. How to know if you are a geek.

I hate apples. I never understood the reason in wanting something that literally every little high school boy and girl, & every wannabe scholar at the university has. Having a mac does not make you "cool" or "hip" or "with it" -- despite the brainwashing on apples part.
for $1500 I could get a lot more power in a PC.
apple just has OSX -- which is the only saving grace.
edit: And my GF & her friends love apple iPods. My GF has been through 8 iPods. They all stop working for no reason -- no matter how well you hold those itty bitty babies. After having an iPOD for 3 weeks and it suddenly stops playing sound out of one side of the headphones (no matter how many you try) -- why do people keep buying it again?

So you're saying you hate Apples because they're popular? Do you have any reason more substantive than that? I'm quite happy with my Apple computer and my family has owned Apples all my life. I also own several PCs. Have you ever used an Apple, or are you afraid it will taint you somehow?
Your point being? You're effectively saying "I could get a Saturn for $10,000 less than a Honda! I don't understand why people buy Honda!"for $1500 I could get a lot more power in a PC.
Because your girlfriend's case is by far the exception. I've owned 4 iPods, and all of them are still working. I only replaced them because I liked some feature of the new model. My old models go to my family. We own 2 third-generation (touch wheel) iPods, 1 fourth generation (click wheel) iPod, one first generation shuffle (white USB stick), 1 second generation shuffle (hair clip), 1 first generation iPod nano (black) and one second generation iPod nano (blue). Not one has had any serious issues.apple just has OSX -- which is the only saving grace.

We had to get a battery replaced on the old touch wheel iPods about a year ago. That's after 4 years of hard use by my little brothers. I'd say that's a pretty sturdy product, wouldn't you?Registered Linux user #270181

at $1500 you can do more with a Dell M1210 is what I'm saying. The Dell will have up to 4GB of RAM and it can be cheaply purchased online (pushing the $1500 mark of course). The Dell can use a 200GB Serial SATA hard drive @ 7200 RPM (vs. Apple's slower 4200RPM drive). Although not the best GPU out there -- the Dell's 256MB Nvidia GO 7400 is a lot better than the Apple's GMA950. The weight is 4.4pounds with the M1210 and 5.1pounds for the Apple.
google search "ipod freeze" "ipod failure" "ipod crash" "ipod problems" and you will read more problems relating to ipod than other MP3 players on the market.
ps. and from my own experience I worked at an electronic store for 5 months. I saw at least one broken ipod nano/video a day. Some of the people were idiots -- obvious they let it fall 400 feet and crack. But many people had real pieces of crap on their hands flushed down the pipes by apple.
