    Best looking music/video player?

What do you think is the best looking?

    1) Anything that prints song titles, play, next, etc directly to the X11 (I think?) desktop? A line interface.

    2) OR: Something very graphical with tons of visuals?

Myabe you could have asked this question as a poll. Anyway I prefer multimedia players with a nice gui interface and lots of features.

I don't like no of the ones you mentioned, I like something simple with an ncurses interface (any suggestion?)

I haven't used them, but a few ncurses audio players include: TiMidity++, Juice, Workbone, and MOC.

    Go with xmms I think?

But right now I'm using this software named "billy" under windows. Very small in size, very minimalist. Not sure wether it would run under wine or not. No linux on this machine.

music on console player. easily the best music player.
i also like mplayer for movies.
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

True. I use it because it starts a daemon so the music doesn't stop when i log on or off (or stop the x server).
Plus it's very handy to use and very light on resources (unlike AmaroK)

I haven't found an ncurses player I like (mocp gets pretty close), I think I'll code one myself using Ruby, the ncurses bindings and gstreamer (mpg123 is no go with my tunes)

Hopefully I'll start someday in a couple of months
