The grumpy old guy that works in the tool department at my local Home Depot recommended Rigid brand drill bits so I bought a few. Worked great as I only used one bit to drill about 40 holes through the 1/8" SS angle ( and it's still usable). Once I got the right speed and pressure the drilling went fast. Cousinlucky should hold a drill bit sharpening clinic for the mechanically inclined linux user

Funny thing!! I gave up thoughts about earning a living as a machinist because computers were being built into the new machines which removed the need for highly skilled people. I must have computer phobia.

Kewl Subject IMHO
I work for a Drill Bit Manufacturer myself LOL

I had to respond though, seeing that you got good advise here, the right tools and job well done Grats!

Ok this is my first post on this forum, Heck of a way to say hi and introduce myself, but heck if it takes a drill bit! Its gonna make a hole!

I am so new to Linux here, I am just reading things yet, do not even know what who or where to ask things yet so Ill stay with making holes till I figure out what I am trying to do here.

I ordered a few distros to install and play with and then may have an idea what I am maybe sorta gonna wanna ask later
Keep drilling though, there is an end to that hole somewhere!

Tim

What are the odds of getting a guy who works for a drill bit mfr. and is also interested in Linux reading this thread? Maybe cousinlucky can work his way into a drill bit consulting job here. So long as it doesn't involve computers of course.

Not me Cool_Arrow! I'm 63 and too cranky. My once sparkling memory is fast fading. I will never be able to figure out how computers work but I did have enough sense to abandon using windows on the Internet and to try using Linux.

I know I'm missing out on a lot of the things I could be doing with a computer, but I am quite pleased that my computer has not needed a hard drive reformat since I use Linux on the Internet.

The one part of being a machinist that was somewhat immune to computers was specialized tool making. That required skill and a diligent patience just a little beyond my abilities. I may be the dumbest computer user here but the Linux community of free thinkers may salvage humanity.
