    Consensus Software

    Hello
As you can see by the fact I signed in with the name my parents gave me, I am new to this stuff. So I'll appologise for any gaffs now.

I am working on a project that requires the written input of as many people as possible world wide. I am looking for a sort of consensus opinon of the world population, or at least the world population that can be bothered to join in.

Obviously I could employ an army of editors who would read all the comment and come up with a consensus. Or I could use some niffty software.

Does anyone know of anything that may do the job? Failing that does anyone think it may be possible to develop such sofware. I think it could be useful in many areas.

    Thanks in advance

    Martin.

What you intent is common at universities, research labs and marketing departments worldwide. Your problem is not gonna be finding the right software once you have a clearer picture of what it should do.

But as I am always intrigued by obscure posts that say little more than "hey, I'm gonna do something difficult, does anyone know how - or - think it's a good idea"...

    I can't resist asking, what's the plan?

A cursory Google keyword search using "statistical methods" and "survey" brings up many links with references to software that already exists for your intended purpose. Of course your needs may be different, but you may not have to write your own.

Thanks for that. The objective is (without giving too much away) is to see if it is possible to capture a world view of certain moral questions.
Of course the world view will only be the people who bother to contribuite. Which will mean I get a section of world society, but it's a start.
A sample issue may be 'should society excute people for commiting crimes, if so which ones.'
Hope that gives you an glimpse of the project?

Thanks for that. I'll give it a try.
