Tea...deffinately. My grandmother is from blackpool england, so I was raised on Earl Grey with milk and sugar. My girlfriend Lisa met my grandmother for the first time last month and couldn't comprehend her being lactosentollerant and not having milk with her tea. As far as beer goes, i've been on a guinness kick for a while now. It's all I can drink.

On the subject of non-alcoholic beverages, I do occasionally allow myself something caffeinated, as was the case this weekend. The girlfriend and I went down to the Kemah Boardwalk (think of it as a small version of Coney Island) and found glass-bottled Coca-Cola from Mexico.

Why, you might ask, was that a special occasion? Well, in Mexico they make their Coca-Cola with real sugar, not the high-fructose corn syrup we use here in the States. The result is a much less sticky, overall more pleasant drink which is worth paying an extra 25 cents. The bottles had old-fashioned non-twist-off caps too, which kind of added to the novelty.

That's amazing! In common with many English kids, my mum and dad used to take me to Blackpool for short holidays.

I also like Earl Grey (I don't take it with milk), and half my relatives come from near Blackpool, so there you are. You've got Lancastrian genes.

Here's something from nearby which your Grandmother might have known very well.

If you ever eat Americanized food, it probably will have HFCS (corn syrup), they put that stuff in just about everything.
