I think it look great so far. However, after reading a few posts in this coffee lounge i do realise that a lot of you aren't interested in "eye-candy". Also what does everybody think of the new name "Compiz Fusion"?It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets.

It looks great. I must admit I wasn't aware that compiz & beryl were intending to merge. That (for me) is the best news for the 3D desktop movement going forward as all development can be concentrated into 1 (hopefully solid) project.
Thanks for the info/link

Nah I love the eye candy. It genuinely takes weight off the CPU and makes the desktop feel more fluid. Granted the fire writing is no good for anything really, but annotate on the other hand is priceless.
I installed Compiz-Fusion from Trevino's (?) repository. It was actually great looking and had the best configuration tool yet. Also by default it only has the minimum turned on, the rest you add yourself. I did uninstall it though and downgraded to the default Feisty Compiz. Everything is so optimised in Feisty that I just found myself saving 3-4 seconds on startup with the standard version.

I'm downloading the packages as I post this, I'll have a look at how it works and will report back with my findings. I like the grouping plugin.

the grouping plugin is available in current Beryl too, it just hadn't been publicised as well as the other plugins.

Tried it, it works like a charm and for some reason more fluent than beryl. Beryl used to be very fluent but not as it should be on my latest install. Anyway this is cool and I love it
